002: oh boy we missed things
TL;DR: a bunch of little CSS changes. Fixed the RSS actually not pointing here, lol.
Much better posts now! We have: a keep reading button! The date is actually separated from the post body! I FIXED THE RSS POINTING TO URLS ON EXAMPLE.ORG!! (I redid the base of this website so many times while fidgeting with HUGO, I forgot to change the base URL on this iteration. Oops!)
…All of these also took me embarrasingly long, because I kept editing the files (correctly), but then tried to preview the changes on the actually deployed site. Which, need I say, is NOT directly from my work files. I gotta build it and push it to the server. At least you don’t have to see all my WIP nonsense :)
Added themes! A high-contrast BW one, a grayscale one that’s much softer, a dark theme (though I’m still thinking over the tones I picked… blue and green are classics, but it feels like they’re everywhere, especially on social media. But on the other hand - dark backgrounds that are warm just… don’t sit with me. Sigh. We’ll see! That one is subject to change.)
OF COURSE, with that, I added a theme picker. Truly, the only bit of JS I’ve ever genuinely written, and one of the very few JS things I truly want on this site. I have my site under my finger. No JS comes in here unless I allow it to, and foreign code being one of them.
Small additions: we’ve now got a double divider between header and footer. I just htink it’s nice :) The dates are a bit more visually distinct from article body, section pages have dates too now, the promised keep reading is in there—
I also put the Red Alert 2 quote up above the main title and made it cute :o)
Next on the list:
- still the front page
- shakes fist at sky CENTERED IMAGES!!
- I want a ‘cool things I found on the web’ section… im already rediscovering cool talks I haven’t watched in 300 years that i still adore to bits i need to share. we doing the good ol’ sharing links!!!
- i want a little oldschool affiliate button lmao
- also a favicon.
- and a fancy snail shell for the front page. this VERY hinges on the centered images, i’m sorry, but a website ‘intro’ image being aligned to the left would tear my heart out i think
